John Mitchell is a vampire. He's been around for about one hundred and eighteen years. He's lived through wars (being bitten while he was a soldier in World War I,) travelled the world, done everything, been everywhere and met incredible people. He was in the movie Casablanca, having knocked over a chair. Mitchell's quite normal, all things considered, he enjoys fine wine, watching television, and philosophy. Now he's just trying to settle down for a bit, fleeing Herrick's "clan" the best he could and trying to take a moral path. He finds in George, a genuine guy and a friend. Vampires generally struggle to find friends unless they're fellow vampires, so he's looking to have closeness with someone. That and he watches out for George around his time of the month. Annie is slightly different given she knows what it's like to see death, to be dead. He has more patience with her, and even tries to get her to experience the world again and not confine herself to the house. Very much like the big brother. He's overcome the boredom. He's laid back and there's no point getting deathly bored of it all so he's trying to tame his instincts to bite people. He's not always out to get humans like other vampires, he has respect for human kind, so he doesn't get off on the challenge of biting. Initially when people are bitten, they get a buzz out of it, they're often on a different plane – but that wears off after a while and he doesn't want to commit people to the sort of life he's been subjected to. Every waking second he battles the blood lust, a problem he keeps to himself and rarely complains about.

Vampires.

Despite folklore - he's the type that can go out during the day. He's always wrapped up in a coat, scarf, gloves and sunglasses and UV cream. He prefers not to be out though sometimes he gets restless. Although he can survive daylight, his eyes are overly-sensitive to natural light, prompting him often to wear sunglasses outside in the daytime. He is not reflected in anything "silver-backed", making him invisible in mirrors and on camera, but is reflected in transparent surfaces such as windows. Like other vampires like him, Mitchell has enhanced strength and smell. He can hear heartbeats from a couple feet away, and by the smell of blood he can tell what someone is; vampire, werewolf, alien. His eyes turn completely black when he has blood-lust or when he wills it; though it appears that he is slightly weaker when he abstains from drinking blood, he can survive without it. He prefers not to feed on animals, opting for nearly expired blood packets from the hospital where he works as a porter.
